Brussels Based is an exhibition dedicated to architectural practices based in Brussels and founded over the last ten years. The exhibition aims to explore the wide range of architectural approaches within the city, offering insight into the ‘behind the scene’ operations of the invited practices. This exploration is approached from an analytical perspective, focusing on the collection and presentation of data.

Curated by Amor Immeuble, Marcello Carpino and Leander Venlet, the exhibition showcases 50 practices founded between 2014 and 2024, providing a representative view of the city’s current architectural landscape. These young practices, composed of both Belgian and international architects, work across a broad spectrum of disciplines: research, publications, furniture design, scenography and architecture, reflecting the dynamic and international nature of Brussels’ architectural scene. Such diversity makes Brussels one of the most attractive cities for architects among European capitals and a testing ground for the whole of Europe.

The exhibition is built up around 5 themes: Practice, Work, Workspace, Background and Media. These themes reveal the 50 participating practices from various perspectives, collectively attempting to provide a broad insight into this generation of Brussels Based architects.
